Hylian Lesson - Pronunciation 01 - e i i or y? by Sarinilli Hylian Lesson - Pronunciation 01 - e i i or y? by Sarinilli
It's been a while, hasn't it? So sorry! Here's a quick yet helpful lesson for you as proof that I'm still alive.

I've noticed that the difference between and usage of the two i letters in Hylian is...more than slightly confusing for some people. Especially when using the alphabet for writing in English with. This should hopefully clear up this confusion.

Please though, if you have any questions, if this is confusing or not clear enough or you're unsure about how to properly spell a certain word, I encourage you to send me a note or comment below. Don't be afraid to ask me questions! :3

How did you find the characters? And translate them?

That's a LONG story I can actually sum up rather well;

Before I ever knew that the Hylian in OoT and MM was supposed to be Japanese, I read the sign in Kakariko as "ka ka r i k o" (instead of "kakariko mura") and ran with it. Played both games and wrote down as many characters as I could, using the sign as a basis for the idea of an alphabet... originally I made a huge mess, then slimmed it down to what I have now; but the language work just sort of followed suit with the alphabet work. This whole thing started about a year after Ocarina of Time came out, so it's been in the works for some time now.

So you've been working on this for over a decade then?

Since I originally started it, yes. More like around 16 years now actually. It's been through a LOT. I used to have a lot more up but had issues with the older works I'm trying to fix.
